Long Technical College NAVTA Student Chapter Meeting Minutes Wednesday, 09/07/2005 12:30 PM Meeting Supervisor: Pam Gardner AS., CVT Members present: Kimm Wuestenberg, CVT, VTS (ECC), Tracy Kinder(VP), Amber Stryszko(Treasurer), Melissa (Mel) Murray (Secretary) Non-members present: Maryn Establishment of By-Laws: Tracy passed out copy of the "North Dakota Association of VT Student Chapter Constitution & By-Laws" as an example/base to create our own; Dues: due September 1st of every year; $20.00/year or $7.50/ 3 months; membership (what is required and protocol); Officer Elections (President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary); Finances and Budget; and lastly Amendments (how to make, and if necessary, change them) Next meeting: Sunday, October 2nd, 2005 @ 2:00 PM at LTC; 1-2 hour meeting (regular meeting + preparation for the VT booth for the LTC Fall Festival-booth/box, posters, brochures, business cards, etc.); annual dues due this meeting ($20/year or $7.50/ 3 months) Funds: 2 members names to be listed on the LTC NAVTA Student Chapter bank account to enable funds to be drawn out by either party (i.e.. if one person is unavailable to acquire the funds when needed, the other can be called upon); Currently members to be listed on the account- Tracy (VP) and Amber (Treasurer) LTC Fall Festival Saturday, October 22nd, 2005 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM; VT program, NAVTA booth; have human food and treats; have homemade dog biscuits and cat treats for sale; have dog bath in back area of VT building (back gate open for the public/LTC students; doggy and kitty day care; complementary TNT's; sell dog/cat collars/toys/etc (buy them for $1.00 and sell them for $3.00 Functions: BBQ's and seminars; Entrance fees & ticket prices: NAVTA members $5.00, and non-members $10.00 New Orleans, Louisiana (Hurricane Katrina): possible donation of partial LTC booth profits to the catastrophe (relief organizations, hospitals, animal shelters, etc.); possible donation of partial LTC booth profits to the Arizona Humane Society to help fund the supplies needed to care for the animals of New Orleans; help with Arizona Human Society with the animals who have come in from New Orleans (possible donation, walking, feeding, administering Rx's/Tx's, giving TPR's/Assisting Staff members Raised money ideas: Besides those mentioned above, having LTC NAVTA member T-shirts made Things to do: Go to nursing homes and schools with animals for human/animal interaction and informational lectures; Amber/Tracy to call Animal Benefits Club to find out the animal registration process and protocols for this. Seminars: Look for guest speakers (can include students, members, professors, program directors, animal industry employees, etc); Tracy could give heart presentation; if invitation extended to other schools & clinics/hospitals...approval from Veterinary Health Care Team of Arizona and/or AVMA? LTC NAVTA Student Chapter Website-Tracy currently putting one together NAVTA Students Chapter member hours: Amber is keep track of all hours members accumulate; this is excellent information to place on resumes as volunteer hours; for those present at both meetings 4 hours have been accumulated.
