Meeting Supervisor: Pam Gardner AS., CVT Members present: Tracy Kinder(VP), Amber Stryszko(Treasurer), Melissa (Mel) Murray (Secretary) Non-members present: Maryn Boyer The LTC Fall Festival is to be moved from Saturday, Oct. 22nd, 2005 to Saturday, Nov 12th, 2005 (10AM-3PM). Pam will be speaking with Dr. Rollins and Bonnie about the switch. Meetings to prepare for the LTC FAll FEstival will be held after school (12PM) Tuesday, Nov 1st, 2005. Meetings have officially been moved to the first Tuesday of every month (starting Tuesday, Nov 1st, 2005). Items for Fall Festival ) "to do list": (1) Make treats for those attening Fall Festival (cookies, bread, etc), (2) make little bage of IVD dog biscuits and cat treats to hand out (biscuits and treats supplied are from free promotional bags distributed by IVD; Pam is going to try to get more treats for cats from IVD); bags need to be tied with ribbon (fall colors: organe, brown, black, red, etc.), (3) create handouts (flyers and/or pamplets) promoting LTC (Vet Tech Program) and NAVTA, (4) Create handouts with a list of veterinary technology topics for clients-heartworm prevention, vaccinations, dental hygeine, PE exams, etc. (5) most promotional posters, (6) create poster describing veterinary technology, and (7) Amber will be purchasing dog/cat toys from the dollar store. All left over toys to be donated by the LTC NAVTA Student Chapter to LTC. Dues were paid today by Tracy, Amber, and Mel ($20.00 each for 1 yr.; LTC NAVTA Student Chapter membership now good for the above stated members until Oct 2nd, 2006. Our Student Chapter balance has now gone being being in the negative to a positive $10.00. A motion has been passed regarding officer positions. If any officer is not present for two consecutive meetings OR three meetings in a calendar year (without contacting the advisor or other officers by email in advance in ample time to reschedule a monthly meeting) their office will be considered vaccant. Elections will follow on the next scheduled meeting. We are still waiting for approval (by Kaplan corporate legal) to make the website an official LTC NAVTA Student Chapter Website. Tracy is still working on getting info and making contacts in regard with taking animals to nursing homes and schools for visits while promoting animal welfare. Maryn will be giving a 10-15 minute presentation to first year students on kennel duty assignments (proper cleaning techniques, TPR's, CRT, checking ears/teeth, weekly PE exams, keeping litterboxes and clumping cat little fresh (instead of dumping them everyday), and how to refill disinfectant spray bottles (vice throwing them away =P), etc. The "job placement" handout in the latest edition of the NAVTA Journal is to be copied and posted for all students to see. All of the officers of the LTC NAVTA Student Chapter agreed to find way to motivate, encourage, and enlighten other students that may be having difficult within our program.
