Long Technical College Student Chapter, NAVTA Tuesday, December 6, 2005, 5:00 PM Veterinary Technical Building, Room 1 Attendance: Advisor Pam S. Garner, CVT Members Randy Pitcher, President Non-members Julie Allen Peggy Simpson Patricia Manos Items: First order of business was the acceptance of resignations from the Vice President, Tracy Kinder; the Treasurer, Amber Stryszko; and the Secretary, Melissa (Mel) Murray. Following the announcement of the resignations, a call for volunteers to fill the positions went out. Julie Allen agreed to accept the position of Vice President. Peggy Simpson agreed to accept the position of Treasurer. It was noted that neither Julie nor Peggy are members of the student chapter or NAVTA. It was decided that they will not officially become officers until they become members of both organizations. In the interim, the President, will perform all duties of the Executive Committee. Christmas baskets were discussed. Julie Allen is heading up the committee to get the items and baskets set up. A flyer will be made up and distributed to the school as soon as possible. Items will be purchased and those purchasing them will submit receipts for payment at a later date. The Pet Photos was the next item to be discussed. It was noted that none of the committee members were present. Due to liability issues, opening it up to the entire school isn't feasible. As explained by the advisor, the owner of any pet brought onto school property would have to sign a document stating that their pet was the property of Long Technical College for the day. We may be able to open it up to just the Vet Tech students, but it may have to be over multiple days due to lack of space to house pets. Therefore, the photo idea has been put on hold until a later date. Other Fund raising ideas were sought. Some ideas include making bandanas, making fleece toys and having a raffle for a large pet basket. These ideas are good, but too late for a Christmas offering. However, we may be able to sell these items throughout the year. The next meeting is scheduled to be on Tuesday, January 3, 2006. This is the first day of classes after the Winter break. It was decided that the meeting will be the following Tuesday, January 10, 2006. As decided at the November meeting, the January meeting will be at 12:30 PM. Respectfully Submitted, Randy Pitcher President, LTCSCNAVTA
