Long Technical College Student Chapter, NAVTA Tuesday, January 10, 2006 12:30 PM Veterinary Technical Building, Room 1 Attendance: Advisor Pam S. Garner, CVT Members Randy Pitcher, President Julie Allen Non-members Nathan Gosnell Sam Stapleton Sean K. Long Items: There was not a quorum of members; therefore, an election to fill the empty officer chairs (vice president, treasurer, secretary) could not be held. Therefore, the president, Randy, is still taking over those roles until they can be filled. The pet basket sale that was held the week before Winter break was a success. We grossed $279.00 and netted $55.31, with $223.69 for supplies. As promised, 1/2 of the proceeds will go to the animal victims of Hurricane Katrina. It was decided that we will be sending $30.00 to one of the charities. The photo shoot was not discussed due to none of the committee members in attendance. It was decided that the photo shoot will be dropped, but left open for future consideration. We had a great discussion about other possible fund raising ideas. Some of the suggestions were: Easter pet baskets, bandanas (possibly customized), pet washes, toe nail trims, Valentine Day baskets, cat towers, dog ramps/steps, training/obedience classes, selling candy, bumper stickers, bake sale, dog show, cook-offs, pet beds (custom or pre-made). During the discussion about pet washes and toe nail trims, Pam brought up the point that we would need Kaplan's legal department to approve it. Julie is heading up the committee to come up with the wording and documents that we need to send to Kaplan legal to get approved for working with the public's pets. It was decided that we would have a Valentine Day Bake Sale here at school to raise money for us to use. Sam volunteered to create some posters that we can put around the Vet Tech building, asking for baked goods and other donations. Sean volunteered to look into the cost of making customized bumper stickers. He has done them for his church before and knows where to find all the information. The next LTCSCNAVTA meeting will be on Tuesday, February 7th at 5:00 PM Respectfully Submitted, Randy Pitcher President, LTCSCNAVTA
